HSI has a long history of consulting for other organizations and nonprofits. The agency has partnered with dozens of groups; assisting in the creation of their own housing facilities for special need populations by assembling financing packages, fostering links with government agencies, crafting long-term viable budgets and timelines, as well as supervising construction.
In the late 1980s/early 1990s, HSI completed a number of projects for low-income families and seniors.

• Crotona Park North Apartments - East 175th ST & Prospect Ave, Bronx City & State financed 66 apartments for very low-income families; 1992
• Belmont Boulevard Apartments - 185th Street and Southern Boulevard, Bronx. HUD-financed (Sec. 202) new construction of 96 low-income senior units; Sponsor: Belmont Arthur Avenue LDC; 1993
• 600 East 183rd Street, Bronx. HUD-financed (Sec. 202) for 98 low-income senior units; Sponsor: Belmont Arthur Avenue Local Dev. Corp.; opened 1987; refinanced in 2005 using taxable bonds.

Beginning with a small SRO for ex-offenders, HSI began focusing on supportive housing:
• Project Green Hope Apartments - 411-418 East 119th Street, Manhattan. NYC HPD loan for 56 SRO and apartment units for female ex-offenders and their families; Sponsor: Project Green Hope; 1990
• Sanctuary Apartments - South Bronx. NYC loan for 49 apartments and for domestic violence survivors. Sponsor: Sanctuary for Families; 1991
• Highbridge Woodycrest Center - 936 Woodycrest Avenue, Bronx. NYS & NYC-financed nursing facility for 99 beds for PWA and their families; Sponsor: HSI & Highbridge Community Life Center; 1991
• Episcopal Mission Society Group Home - 2749 University Avenue, Bronx. Chase CDC-financed group home for adolescent foster children; Sponsor: Episcopal Mission Society; 1991
• Episcopal Mission Society - 514 West 126th Street, Manhattan. NYS-financed 40 beds for single PWA; Sponsor: St. Mary’s Church and Episcopal Mission Society; 1992
• Osborne-El Rio Program - 813 Webster Avenue, Bronx. City & State financed 14,000 sf of space for substance abuse treatment for young offenders; 1992
• Genesis II Museum - 1787 Amsterdam Avenue, Manhattan. State-financed 16 studio apartments for formerly homeless adults and museum gallery space. Sponsor: Genesis II Museum; 1993
