1 KENMORE HALL After undergoing a $34M gut rehabilitation in 1999, this 326-unit apartment building provides permanent housing for mentally ill, low-income, formerly homeless, and frail, elderly single adults. The Visiting Nurse Service provides on-site medical care and on-site psychiatric services are provided by The Project for Psychiatric Outreach to the Homeless. The Kenmore received a Best Practice Award from HUD and was also a Finalist for a Fannie Mae Foundation Maxwell Award for Excellence. 2 THE NARRAGANSETT Provides permanent, supportive housing to 60 single adults living with AIDS and 40 low-income tenants. This former hotel was purchased and renovated by HSI in 1994. Recent program highlights: • Launched food program with Project Renewal’s Comfort Foods, which has already served 16,800 meals and been deemed a success by residents. • Introduced onsite medical care provided by Services for the UnderServed, which provides full medical care to frail residents in the comfort of their own apartments. In addition, the Narragansett has an in-house substance abuse/acupuncturist who offers alternative therapy to complement treatment plans. Sal from narra.jpg

3 THE CECIL HOTEL Opened in 1988, the Cecil provides permanent housing to 89 formerly-homeless, single adults living in their own apartments. Recent program highlights: • Provided over 2,500 meals to residents last year through its extensive partnership network including Meals on Wheels, Meals on Heels, St. John the Divine, Community Food Source, and Riverside Church Pantry. • Initiated a cooking class where residents learn to make their own meals, with emphasis on good nutrition. 4 SCATTERED SITE PROGRAM HSI also oversees 20 permanent scattered-site apartments with supportive services for individuals and families with at least one member suffering from HIV/AIDS. Robert from narra.jpg
